Any guesses why I am posting it on my blog....just to add a bit of glitz and glamour !!!


Salwar - The most convenient and unexceptional alternative to a sari - It is the one that flatters practically any body-type. The salwar-kameez can be formal, casual, dressy, or plain; and it can also be made to suit practically all climates.
Types of Salwars
1. Indian regular salwar :

Regular salwar is a loose trouser having wide legs at the top portion that becomes narrow at the end(the feet side).

2. Churidhar:

The churidar is actually pants made in such a way that it is tight from the knee down and loose and comfortable from the knee up.

3. Anarkali

Anarkali - The court dancer of the Mughal emperor Akbar and the love of his famous son Salim used to perform her dances in a typical dress that resembled plain umbrella patterned skirts at the bottom and an embellished choli or blouse at the top. This ethnic wear was made most popular, bollywood actress Madhubala in  'Mughal-e-Azam', Meena Kumari in 'Pakeeza,' Rekha in 'Umrao Jaan,' Aishwarya Rai Bacchan in the remake of 'Umrao Jaan' and Madhuri Dixit in 'Aaja Nachle.'

4. Boot cut salwar

Bootcut salwar has shape, it is like parallel pant but with flair at the bottom of each side.

5. Patiala salwar:

The patiala salwar has pleats from the waist and and big fall comes on wearing at back.

6. Pleated salwar
Pleated salwar has pleats  all around each leg.  Its not baggy and hence different from the patiala.

7. Parallel salwar:
Parallel salwars are normal pants/slacks which can be worn with short top or kameez.
